Description
Love them or hate them, gobies are here and have become part of the Great Lakes food web. Lake trout, whitefish, walleye, smallmouth bass, brown trout, and many other predatory species have incorporated them into their diets. Despite that, goby patterns aren’t always the first bait anglers reach for when targeting some of the gamefish that regularly feed on them. We think that makes them an interesting pattern with a lot of potential.
Some goby imitations use additional fins and complex tails to create detail, but those features can also collect weeds and add unnecessary resistance in current. The TailOut Goby keeps a realistic profile while using a streamlined design that fishes cleanly through weeds and moving water while being supple enough to produce plenty of action.
Fish it on a jig, drop-shot, or anywhere presenting a goby close to the bottom makes sense. Sometimes matching the hatch means looking down.
