Description
The Niagara River is a powerful system and not an easy place for a minnow to be. Between a turbulent Lake Erie above when the winds kick up, Niagara Falls, the Class 6 rapids, the Whirlpool, diving birds, and plenty of predatory fish, minnows take a beating. Spend enough time on the river and you’ll regularly see dead, struggling, or dying minnows drifting past.
That may be one reason the classic “white minnow” has become such a staple on the Niagara. From our observations, those regurgitated, dead and dying minnows often retain a slightly darker back while the rest of the body becomes pale and washed out.
Whirlpool Pearl takes the familiar pale minnow appearance and adds a subtle chartreuse back for contrast and visibility. It’s our take on the classic white minnow-built around something we’ve watched drifting down the Niagara for years.
